    Information

    Aims, contents and method of the course

    Objectives: The students become familiar with basic concepts, applications, and subfields of economics, as well as with the basic methods of economists by means of specific examples.
    Contents: Definition and delimitation of economics, basics of microeconomics (e.g.: supply and demand, elasticity, perfect competition vs. monopoly power, external effects, public goods), basics of macroeconomics (e.g.: macroeconomic indicators, economic growth, business cycle, fiscal and monetary policy, international economics).
    Method: The course material is explained to the students in a series of lectures.

    Assessment and permitted materials

    Written exam with multiple choice questions (separate registration for the exam is required!).
    Materials permitted: One page (size A4) with notes, pocket calculator.

    Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

    For a positive assessment, more than half of all possible points must be achieved.
