Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

The course covers the core ideas of macroeconomics. We will discuss different macroeconomic models and link them to relevant events, empirical evidence, and policy issues. Students taking this course will be able to rigorously analyze macroeconomic issues and policies in connection with economic growth, business cycles and unemployment.
STUDENTS ARE STRONGLY ADVISED TO TAKE THIS COURSE AND THE ASSOCIATED UE APPLIED MACROECONOMICS IN THE SAME SEMESTER.

Assessment and permitted materials

There will be a midterm and a final exam, covering the material discussed in the first and second half of the semester, respectively. Each of them accounts for 50% of the grade. The mid-term exam will take place in the last week of November. The final exam will take place in the last week of January. Students who take the midterm will be given the possibility of a make-up exam in the second week of January. Students who take the final exam will be given the possibility of a make-up exam in the third week of February.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Students need to obtain at least an average of 50% to pass this course. 50% - 60% implies a 4; 60% - 70% a 3; 70% - 85% a 2; 85% or above a 1.
