Assessment and permitted materials

Your grade for this course will be based on problem sets and class participation
(25%), a mid-term (35%), and a final exam (40%). You need to obtain 50% of the
available points to pass the course.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

This is a general topics course in advanced corporate finance. Successful completion
of “Corporate Finance” is required, completion of “Financial Intermediation” is
beneficial. The focus of the course will be on security design and control rights, but
we will also touch upon issues related to financial intermediation and the macroeconomic
implications of corporate finance. The aim of the course is to provide
you with a deeper understanding of the trade-offs involved when determining a
firm’s financial structure, and with an intuition for the aggregate consequences of
these decisions. You will also be introduced to a more formal approach to studying
corporate finance.
