Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

This semester's SOLV (Self-Organised Course) offers an insight into the art market. Throughout the semester, students will explore its institutional history and its unique legal aspects. Furthermore, students will examine the effects of globalization and macroeconomic trends on the art market. Finally, contents from game theory related to the art market, particularly auction formats and bidding strategies, will be discussed. The course aims to highlight the connections between art and economics and aims to foster interest in such interdisciplinary topics.

The SOLV (self-organised course) is a series of courses organised by the VWL-Basisgruppe Roter Börsenkrach (www.roterboersenkrach.at). The aim is to convey content that students feel is missing or too short in the VWL curriculum. Therefore, the choice of topics, planning and implementation of the course are the responsibility of interested students. If you would like to help organise one of the next SOLVs, please contact the organisation team (solv@roterboersenkrach.at).

Please note that this course will present content in both German and English. A sufficient understanding of both languages is therefore essential for participation.
