Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

Students will
- gain understanding of the role and use of information systems, in particular decision support systems, in business administration,
- gain an insight into object-oriented programming and are able to implement basic programming tasks in the environment of standard business software,
- be able to develop and implement simple database models for operational and historical databases,
- develop understanding of the basic tasks of business analytics.

Assessment and permitted materials

1. homework assignments (20%): (1)Sun, 05.11.2023; (2) Sun, 14.01.2024
2. midterm exam (40%): Thu, 16.11.2023, 15:00-16:00, no particular tools allowed, except for Microsoft Excel.
3. final exam (40%): Thu, 25.01.2024, 15:00-16:00, no particular tools allowed.

The use of AI tools (e.g. ChatGPT) for the handling of tasks is only permitted if they are expressly requested by the course leader (e.g. for individual work tasks).

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

In total, 100 points can be achieved (relative proportions see above). The overall assessment is based on the following grading scale (in %):
