Aims, contents and method of the course

This lecture course aims at repeating the material on macroeconomics that participants know from their bachelor studies and to deepen this knowledge. The textbook “Macroeconomics: Institutions, Instability, and the Financial System” (Wendy Carlin & David Soskice; Oxford University Press) serves as the main literature for this course. Topics to be covered will be:

1. Demand side, supply side, and macroeconomic policy;
2. Money, banking and the macro-economy;
3. The financial sector and crises;
4. The open economy

Assessment and permitted materials

A written test of 90 minutes

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

The test is marked on a point scale. 50 out of 100 possible points are required to pass the exam.
