Aims, contents and method of the course

In the course, a part of the master thesis is presented and a seminar paper is to be written about it. This paper has to be submitted to Matthias Formann (matthias.formann@univie.ac.at) by 11.12.2022, 23:59 at the latest.

The presentation of the seminar paper has to be done in presence and has to contain the main theses of the paper. The presentation should take about 15 minutes. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, short-term changes in courses may be necessary. You will be informed of such changes in a timely manner.
Presentation by using Power Point slides. Handouts are mandatory.
This will be followed by a discussion of the content of the respective topic.

The submission regarding the topic of your seminar paper has to be made by 09.10.2021, 23:59. Your topic has to be communicated to Matthias Formann until the given deadline. If you do not submit the topic within the deadline, you will be withdrawn from the course without any sanctions. If you do not write your thesis at the Institut für Recht der Wirtschaft, the participation of your master thesis supervisor at the presentation is preferred.

On 12.10.2022, there will be a unit on "Introduction to legal research". Participation in this is mandatory. Non-participation will result in deregistration.

If a topic has been chosen and you have participated in the unit on Introduction to legal research, you cannot withdraw from the course and you will be graded.

Assessment and permitted materials

The assessment is based on the
- written seminar paper;
- presentation;
- participation in the discussion.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

A requirement for participation is a confirmation of supervision for the master thesis that has already been submitted to the SSC and approved by the SPL!

The consistent attendance at all dates is obligatory! This applies in particular to the unit "Introduction to legal research".
The written seminar paper will be assessed according to the usual criteria (min. 50,000 characters ~ 25 pages, compliance with good scientific practice).

Within the presentation (approx. 15 minutes) the main theses of the seminar paper will be presented.

Examination topics

Exam material will be the topics presented.
