Aims, contents and method of the course
Assessment and permitted materials
Performance assessment/evaluation is based on a short test (10% = 8 points) during the course and two written exams in German (45% = 36 points each, duration of each exam: 60 minutes) at the end of the course. Up to 6 additional points can be earned by participating in the discussion rounds at the end of the 2nd to 4th course unit. A maximum of 80 points (86 with the additional points) will be awarded.
Unannotated legal texts and non-electronic dictionaries may be used in the written examinations.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
In principle, attendance is compulsory at all times. Students may be exempted from compulsory attendance for a total of one unit for an important reason. Attendance is compulsory in the first unit without exception. Students who do not attend will be deregistered from the course unless there is an important, verifiable reason for their absence (excuse and proof before the first unit to Prof. Blocher: blocher@uni-kassel.de).From > 50 % (= 41 points) the course is successfully completed.

General: Legal basics in the field of e-commerce; economic and social connections;
Inclusion of legal issues in cross-border business transactions on the Internet.
In particular:
Contract law on the internet; consumer protection in distance contracts; financial services on the internet; information duties; liability for information on the net; unsolicited messages; provider liability; domain law; legal issues of online marketing; signature law; blockchain and smart contracts; dispute resolution in case of a (cross-border) legal dispute; current legal issues and socio-political developments in e-commerce.
After completing the course, students will be able to recognise basic legal problems associated with the commercial use of the Internet and independently assess simple legal issues.
Furthermore, they know the most important legal provisions for electronic legal transactions and their systematic interplay; they understand the technical, political and economic basics of electronic legal transactions; they are able to solve practical cases with relevant legal problems.
