Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
The aim of the module "ABWL: Innovation and Technology Management" is to give an initial overview of the content and significance of innovation and technology management (ITM) in companies. For this purpose, basic terms (such as theory, technology, technique, invention, innovation, imitation, research and development) and classification schemes for innovations (e.g. according to subject area, dimension, scope of change or trigger) are explained. Based on this, selected questions of the innovation process are dealt with. For example, technology dynamics are discussed, taking technology life cycle models into account, the identification of relevant technologies or the analysis of suitable innovation strategies. Further course contents concern product and process planning from idea generation and selection to project program planning as well as product and process realization. Finally, the market introduction of innovations, innovation-economical success factors and selected topics from ITM, such as organizational aspects in research and development (organizational forms, cooperation, personnel management as well as information and communication), industrial property rights and licenses, research and development in international comparison, funding (incl. funding initiatives of the European Union) as well as the internationalization of research and development are discussed. In accordance with the character of ITM as a cross-sectional subject within business administration, the contents taught in this module partly build on other business administration specializations, so that attendance of courses in this module requires prior attendance of introductory courses.
