Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
The topic of this University course (UK) is the historical background of business enterprises and their interaction with political and social developments. It gives an overview of the different theories and the existing literature. The time periode goes from the 20th century until today, with the main emphasis on Europe and the USA. The intention is to show the complexity of the business world, of decision making, change of organisation, market developments and the impact of innovations in business administration and technology. It should also lead to a better understanding of political and social implications of business policy.

The students have to present this topics: Literature the chapters in: Geoffrey Jones/Jonathan Zeitlin, The Oxford Handbook of Business History, Oxford 2007
The second part is a two days event, where the students have to present a short paper, based on the book: "Go East!" Schenker Logistics in Asia-Pacific 1960-2010, Vienna 2010. The time will be fixed in accordance with the participants.
