Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

This course directly follows LP-Modelling I. In LP-Modelling I students become familiar with XPress-MP, a powerful LP solver. In this advanced course, we will use XPress-MP in order to solve hard Production Management (PM) problems. Therefore students will become more familiar with PM problems, with LP solvers (XPress-MP in particular), and how to use LP solvers in order to deal with PM problems.

Assessment and permitted materials

The project work will lead to a written report and to an oral presentation. Each will count for 50% of the final mark.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Students will acquire specific knowledge on PM problems. By the end of the course several cases of PM problems will have been presented, studied and solved with Linear Programming (LP) techniques, thus blessing the students with the ability to deal with PM problems by using LP solvers.

Examination topics

In a first part, we will study several cases of production management problems together in class, and how to solve them with LP techniques. In a second part, the students will study a particular PM problem as project work.
