Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

This module applies mathematical programming methodology to supply chain management problems. Typical strategic, tactical and operational problems will be covered in this course and the participants be learn how to model these problems in a way that makes them tractable for real world solver technologies. Design problems like supplier selection, facility location and capacity choice are modeled and solved as well as operational problems like procurement volume decisions and winner determination in combinatorial auctions.

Assessment and permitted materials

Weekly home assignments (30%), term project (30%), final test (40%)

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

The module enables the participants to model real world supply chain configuration and control problems, to implement and solve these problems using state-of-the art industrial MIP-solvers that are used in practice, and to evaluate the quality of different designs, contracts, and decisions.

Examination topics

The course includes short lectures where the problems and control concepts are introduced. The main part will be to work on exercises and cases to implement and analyze typical supply chain problems using the software XPRESS-MP. Further information: www.dashoptimization.com.

Reading list

Reading list will be distributed after the start of the course.
