Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
Understand selected numerical high performance algorithms for large and very large problems; the focus is on numerical linear algebra problems; understand the interdependencies between problem data, algorithm, implementation of the algorithm, hardware, performance and accuracy; optimization of numerical algorithms, analysis and implementation of high performance algorithms.
Assessment and permitted materials
Four homework exercises (with theoretical and practical components - implementation, experimentation, analysis); one project (with implementation and experimentation components), whose results have to be presented and documented in written form until the end of the semester.
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
The maximum possible score is 65 points (10 per homework exercise, 25 for the project). At least half of this (32.5 points) is required for passing the course.
