Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

Goal of this UE is to understand and be able to apply the most important concepts of modern operating systems. It is highly recommended (but not mandatory) to attend the VO in parallel.

Assessment and permitted materials

2 written tests (30% each) [online]
Participation in the UE (40%) [online]
Up to 15% bonus points for extraordinary participation in the UE, thereby you can improve your grade by at most one step

The written tests contain true / false questions, which result in plus points if answered positively, minus points if answered negatively, and no points if no answer is given. However, an entire test cannot result in less than 0 points.

In the UEs, tasks from exercise sheets are discussed, points are achieved by correctly presenting and explaining your own solutions. At least a third of the tasks of the exercise sheets must be prepared by yourself to obtain more than zero participation points.

Of the 40% for participation, a maximum of 20% can be achieved in the first half of the UEs and a maximum of 20% in the second half of the UEs, i.e. continuous participation over the semester is recommended.

Full points can be achieved without bonus points. The bonus points allow a maximum improvement by one grade. There are a maximum of 10% bonus points for additional extraordinary participation in the UEs and a maximum of 5% bonus points for additional participation in a small extra task. Bonus points do not carry over to future years.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
