Aims, contents and method of the course

The course Business Intelligence II focuses on the following methods
* cross-sectional data analysis
* process mining
* temporal data mining
* social network mining

In addition, the combined application of analysis methods will be discussed based on the following techniques:
* decision mining
* text mining

All analysis methods of Business Intelligence I and II will be applied within a bigger BI project based on real-world data (e.g., from the manufacturing domain). The focus is on finding relevant analysis question, providing an adequate data basis, conducting analysis and interpreting the results, as well as employing open source analysis tools.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

A maximum of 100 points can be reached. From the 100 points, a maximum of 45 can be reached for the practical projects, a maximum of 45 points can be reached for the interview at the end of the course, and a maximum of 10 points for the discussion during the semester.

The grade is then determined based on the overall reached points out of the maximum 100 points as follows:

1: >= 87.5 and <= 100
2: >= 75 and < 87.5
3: >= 62.5 and < 75
4: >= 50 and < 62.5
5: < 50

* practical application of methods
* data preparation
* conducting a Business Intelligence project
* project presentations for domain experts and management
