Aims, contents and method of the course

If you have any questions, please use: dse [AT] swa.univie.ac.at.The topics of the lecture are foundational distributed IS technologies such as distributed system design, development with sockets, concurrency, remote objects, services, REST, service-oriented architectures (SOA), messaging und enterprise application integration (EAI).
Assessment and permitted materials
Grading is based on two written exams (in total 50 regular points), a practical project exercise carried out in teams over the course of the semester (in total 46 regular points). Furthermore, there will be feedback rounds (in total 4 regular points) over the course of the semester. Finally, there is opportunity to achieve bonus points for optional parts.
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
To pass the course, the sum of the achieved points on the written exams (max. 50 points) and half of the achieved bonus points (max. 5 points) must be at least 25 points.
To pass the course, the sum of the achieved points on the practical part (max. 46 points) and half of the achieved bonus points (max. 5 points) must be at least 23 points.
To pass the course, at least 50% of the overall 100 regular points must be reached.
If the course is passed, the grade is determined from the total of the achieved points as follows:
- >= 89 total points: Sehr Gut (1)
- >= 76 total points: Gut (2)
- >= 63 total points: Befriedigend (3)
- >= 50 total points: Genügend (4)
