Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

This lecture aims to understand advanced concepts, methods, and techniques of advanced multimedia topics such as implementing metadata enabled blockchain systems or
designing Web-technology-based systems and services for detecting misinformation on the Web. Further topics covered in the course include applications of the Segway Loomo Robot from a multimedia perspective. Students are expected to be able to apply the concepts, methods, and techniques, and to use these for the implementation of systems and applications. The course consists of several lectures introducing advanced concepts and student projects according to assignments.

Assessment and permitted materials

Students need to show a profound and thorough understanding of the topics presented and worked on in the course.

The final mark is composed of three components: participation (30%), submitted assignments (40%) and a presentation according to specific requirements (30%).

Participation: Students are expected to attend the lectures and are encouraged to participate in class discussion actively.

Assignments: During the course, topic-specific assignments need to be solved in time.

Presentation: Students are expected to present regularly their findings according to topic-specific requirements, which may include delivering a Jupyter-Notebook for illustration and presentation, a seminar paper describing the findings, or a traditional talk presenting the findings.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

The passing grade will be 50%. In addition, to be positive students need to earn a minimum of 10 points of the total points from each of the three components.

Grading scale:
89% <= P <= 100% Sehr Gut (1)
76% <= P < 89% Gut (2)
