Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
A cooperative system may be defined as combination of technologies, human beings and organizations which is supporting their communication and coordination in order to contribute to the efficient realization of their joint objectives. This lecture covers cooperative systems in ICT from a holistic perspective which includes technical, design-related and user-centered aspects. The course covers the subject from two perspectives, the first one focusing on Computer Supported Cooperative Work (CSCW), the second part being dedicated to network-based technologies that build the foundation for CSCW systems. For the second part, you will also have the opportunity to work on a small project.Given the current closure of university buildings the course might have to be delivered in home learning / online mode during the whole summer term. The presence lectures will therefore – where possible – be replaced by online sessions. Moodle will serve as major coordination platform for this course.
Assessment and permitted materials
Performance will be graded by
- a written exam (to be done individually),
- written quizzes in the course of the lecture meetings,
- a seminar paper (to be prepared in small groups) - see below for update,
- practical programming tasks (to be prepared in small groups),
- active lecture participation.UPDATE 14.05.2021: Due to Covid circumstances the original seminar paper is replaced by an individual "reflection paper".

In order to successfully conclude this course, students are required to achieve at least 50% of the points in each individual category.
