Aims, contents and method of the course

The Yiddish Mayse Bukh, first printed in Basel in 1602, is one of the most important collections of narrative material from traditional Jewish literature. In the lecture, selected parts will be read in Yiddish and German, their background will be illuminated, and the passage will be interpreted.
