Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
The last decades are characterized by a sad renaissance of both racism and antisemitism. Unscientific biologisms justify violence and hatred that are motivated otherwise. With the Shoah, racial Jew hatred led to the most abhorrent crime against humanity in history. As of today, racial antisemitism is again responsible for the murder of Jews. Different than often claimed, not only religious but also racial antisemitism has a long history which reaches back into antiquity. This class wants to trace the long history of racial antisemitism thus helping to better understand and combat it today.
