Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

The lecture provides an overview of the theories and methods applied in Egyptian archaeology. We will use examples from excavations, where also members of staff of the University of Vienna have been involved, and discuss important topics and archaeological evidence from settlements, cemeteries and cult places. We will also include examples from the history of archaeological research as well as from cutting-edge modern research in Egypt. In the exercices the application of the methods will be trained, including identification, documentation and description of finds and materials.
