Aims, contents and method of the course

Preparation of scientific research practices in Egyptology. topics are: recognizing source materials, diversity of source materials, how to find source materials, how to work with source materials? how to produce a bibliography? how to present a scientific topic? How to organize a written paper in Egyptology?

Assessment and permitted materials

Assessment is based on the regular and active participation in class (30%), especially individual and team work, as well as on two written assignments (30 + 40%).

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

The goal is to develop skills for systematic scientific work with egyptological source materials, to evaluate the sources for further research and to practice oral presentations or written assignments.

Examination topics

The class works with a "learning by doing" principle. Texts are studied in class, the contents are discussed and evaluated. The written assignemnts help in reaching the class goals.
