Aims, contents and method of the course

The Aegean is a focus of the cultural, scientific and political development of Europe, in which important innovations have been developed or at least transported. This seminar elaborates and discusses important evolutionary steps in context with environment, climate and geological situation and generally serves as preparation for the excursion to the southern Aegean during the summer semester 2016.

Assessment and permitted materials

Amount and quality of discussion contributions as well as oral and written presentation of a selected topic in the context of the seminar.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

The aim of this seminar is the elaboration and discussion of the developments in the prehistory of the southern Aegean in its specific context.

Examination topics

Critical literature study and archaeological analysis of selected findings and excavations.
