Visit key sites and landscapes in the region.
Discuss the archaeological and environmental context at each location.
Gain a greater understanding of the development of archaeological and environmental landscapes of western Sicily at different points in time.Students will be expected to:
Select an archaeological site from the itinerary.
Develop and present a synopsis of the area on site.
Recieve feedback from fellow classmates and instructors and lead a discussion about the site.This course is intended to build upon topics discussed in: 060080 SE The Archaeology of Western Sicily (2017W). Successful completion of that course is a prerequisite for participation in the excursion.Topics will be assigned at the initial lecture.Methods: Visits to archaeological sites and landscapes in the region, with presentations and discussions on site.
