Aims, contents and method of the course
Even during his life Herod the Great was a highly controversial figure. As a Roman clientel king he led Judah to new hights but Romanized it as well. Many of his subjects perceived him as a cruel tyrant. Another aspect of his rule though is the cultural splendor and economic wealth his time. This lecture class will describe and interpret Herod's reign In its historical contexts.
