Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

1.) Theory part-lecture (introduction to archaeomusicology, history of research, methods and ways of archeology, methods and ways of Musicology)
2.) practical part - Papers / identifying & research exercise of the students to individual musical instruments (oral presentation of 20 minutes (PowerPoint) and written work introducing one or several instruments, dating, cultural classification, findings, typology, classification of musical instruments, possibly calculating the eigenfrequenzy, focus: Central Europe
3.) manual-musical-acoustic part (making of simple instruments, playing, acoustic analysis, musical examples / interpretations.

The aim of the course is to convey a broad knowledge of prehistoric musical instruments, recognizing them, chronological, cultural and organological classifying, and give statements about acoustic and craftmanship.

Method:
The first part takes place as lectures of the teacher. In the second part, students present their papers, which they made by research of literature. The third part is dedicated to build simple musical instruments, their acoustical analyses and measuring and the playing of the instruments.

Darüberhinausgehende Fehlzeiten gelten als mangelnde Mitarbeit und werden für die Benotung berücksichtigt. Eine vorhersehbare Nichtteilnahme bzw. ein Fehlen ist per E-Mail mindestens einen Tag per E-Mail anzukündigen.

Es können 100 Punkte erreicht werden:
Abhaltung eines mündlichen Referates mit PowerPoint Präsentation 30 Punkte 30%
Abgabe der schriftlichen Ausführung des Referates 30 Punkte 30%
Mitarbeit 15 Punkte 15 %
Instrumentenbau 25 Punkte 25 %
Anwesenheit (maximal 2 Fehlstunden erlaubt)

Es müssen alle Teilleistungen erbracht werden. Alle Teilleistungen werden für die Leistungskontrolle berücksichtigt. Für eine positive Absolvierung der Lehrveranstaltung ist das von mindestens 55% der möglichen Punkte nötig.
