Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
Students will examine a selection of representative texts and documents in modern and contemporary Global History from various regions, namely Asia, the Americas, Europe, and Africa; all texts and documents are in English. - No electronic devices are permitted in class; this will faciltate students to focus on discussion in class without being distracted.
Assessment and permitted materials
Grading is based on the written assignments, the presentation of the selected topic, the quality of classroom discussion, and on regular class attendance (not more than one absence is allowed).
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
Eight written weekly assignments (papers of two pages each - 75% of the grade); presentation of one of the assignments (15%); constructive participation in classroom discussion (10%).
Examination topics
Students will carefully read, study, and prepare for each class unit the selectied texts and documents; there will be no final exam.
Reading list
Texts and documents will be provided on Moodle from October 12.
