Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

The aim is to train students to read and analyze primary sources and scholarly literature. Our case in point is the Mongol Empire of the 13th century. All texts and discussions will be in English. We will try to understand the astonishing emergence of the Empire and current trends of interpreting it.

Assessment and permitted materials

Participants have to read and study articles and book chapters on a weekly basis. Each participant has to organize and guide through one discussion.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Assessment will be based on attendance and active participation in class discussion.

Examination topics

Short exam based on the texts studied in the course.
