Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

The medieval history of the Holy Roman Empire and its predecessors will be in the centre of attention in comparison with other European countries and realms, based on a material understanding of the term constitution. Institutional history will be combined with social, economic and political history. We will read exemplary sources for these themes as a basis for discussion.

Students' participation during course, two or three shorter papers with fixed date

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Basic knowledge of medieval social, economic and constitutional history and its sources, basic knowledge of interpretation of medieval sources.

Examination topics

Preparation of exemplary sources and discussion of them, two or three shorter papers prepared by the participants
