Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
Via close reading, writing, and discussing, an introduction to medieval Eurasian history. This guided reading is a companion to the lecture course Medieval Eurasia. There are four foci, Western Europe, Central Asia, China, and Japan. The red threads are warrior, clerical, and merchant elites
Assessment and permitted materials
Evaluation of 8 2-3 page papers on the readings, check that the readings have been done, quality of class participation (constructive, not domineering)
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
All the papers have to be written in time before the corresponding session of the Guided Reading (electronic delivery to the instructors).
Examination topics
Guided Readings do not involve exams. Should an instructor impose an exam, he/she is likely in breach of the course definition!!!
