Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

The class will support students in preparing their master thesis by offering support with regard to work techniques, theoretical and methodological considerations, and, suggestions for an improvement of the individual work flow.
The students will be guided during the exploratory phase of their master thesis and supported in developing a more concrete work plan for the thesis project. Peer group comments are strongly encourages and will provide an opportunity to openly discuss about historiographical, theoretical, and practical issues related to the master thesis.

Assessment and permitted materials

participation in the discussion; presentation; written proposal for the MA thesis

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Support with the development of a master thesis project through moderated peer group discussions on theory, methodology, and historiography. Each participant should complete the seminar with a theoretically and methodologically convincing outline for her or his master thesis.

Examination topics

Moderated discussion of pre-distributed readings; peer group discussion on the ongoing process of individual projects; workshop for the presentation of master thesis proposals.
