Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
The course gives a problem-orientated survey over the period from around 1200 to 1500 AD and the development of Europe in this time and tries to consider the most fundamental social, cultural and political aspects of the medieval world.
Assessment and permitted materials
2-3 papers of 3-5 pages must be written for the discussion of sources during the term and a final written exam of 90 minutes will be hold at the end of term based on the course and additional literature.
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
Basic knowledge of European history in the High and Late Middle Ages from 1200 to 1500 AD and first instances of reading medieval sources
Examination topics
Lecture with two or three examples of medieval sources, which must be prepared individually for a fixed date and which will be discussed in the course
