Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

This guided reading will discuss the genre and context of these sources, based on the privileges of Habsburg rulers between the 13th and 19th centuries. The objectives include the semantic and legal concept of the special privilege, critical source analysis, document theory, historical contextualization as well as the investigation of recipient groups and persons, including Jewish ones. The comparison of similar privileges to Christian and Jewish men and women as well as communities enables the analysis according to social, religious and gender categories.
In addition and where it is possible, the participation of the recipients in the preparation of the content and the representation factor in writing and handover are examined. In the Guided Reading the sources will be analysed according to economic, social and cultural historical criteria.
