Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

In the seminar "Sources as keys to past times in the history of Europe" the meaning of some sources that are significant for the history of Europe will be worked out. The focus is on the so-called first Middle Ages. At that time the foundations of Europe were laid, which have a lasting effect up to the present day. Methodologically, both a precise contextualizing analysis and the networking of the sources and their different interpretations in the scientific literature are treated. This should be implemented step by step by the participants based on the topics.
The topics are announced at the beginning of the seminar with introductory literature and an indication of the source texts.
Knowledge of Latin is desirable.

Assessment and permitted materials

As a performance control, the following evidence of the individual work steps must be submitted in writing successively during the course of the seminar: synopsis, bibliography, presentation with ppt, written thesis, length 20 pages. Notes on written work will soon be put online on moodle. You will receive feedback from me after each work step.
