The course deals with the development of global interactions that originated from international trade and that took place in various contact zones where merchants, migrants and pilgrims met. The main focus will be the analysis of ever changing world images, cartography and travellers reports. The course didactics vary between reflections of communication techniques in academic writing, text discussions and student's presentations.

Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
The main aim of the course is to provide basic working skills in global history. Using their knowledge the participants should be able to conduct work on any subject of global history and to prepare a presentation of a selected topic.
Assessment and permitted materials
Regular attendance, active participation in discussions, three papers and a final oral presentation of the fourth assignment.
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
No more than two course units should be missed. Acitve participation in discussions will be very important.
Examination topics
Analysis of different methods of citation, research of select sources, evaluation of research results, oral presentation of a global history topic.
