The course prepares students for writing qualification/master's theses (especially in the field of contemporary history, gender history and history of knowledge). The main aim is to develop a proposal for the qualification thesis.Contents:
The following aspects will be discussed in class: formulation of the thesis' topic, development of a set of research questions, creation of a set of sources and literature, examination of the state of the art, development of a research design, which relates questions, sources and methods to each other in a meaningful way. Depending on the composition of the group, students will also read texts on theories and methods relevant to the practical elaboration of the topics. Methods:
Development of a proposal for one's own qualification thesis: writing of shorter texts (referring to research questions, state of the art, methodological considerations), presentation of a proposal and discussion of the proposals of fellow students.
