Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
The reading course examines cultural geographic locations of Southeastern Europe between "Orient" and "Occident", using selected texts by authors from outside as well as within the region, with respect to topos-building between authentic observation and projection, from the 18th to the 20th century, the examples ranging from Mary Wortley Montagu to Robert Kaplan and from Dositej Obradovic to Ion Dragoumis. The course aims at practicing working techniques with narrative sources and does not require specific language skills.
