Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

Students will learn about the history of medieval Armenia, from its Christianisation in the fourth century to the fall of the kingdom of Cilicia in the late fourteenth. In the process the students will gain a knowledge of medieval Armenian historiography and how it was used to shape a particular national identity that continues to wield strong influence today.

Assessment and permitted materials

Assessment will be based on attendance and active participation in class discussion, as well as weekly written short papers focusing on the assigned texts. There is no final exam.
