Aims, contents and method of the course

This lecture course presents key concepts, interpretations and topics of "Global" or "World History". We shall try to identify different currents and lines of interpretations in this strand of historiography. This should enable students to position their own studies and to think like a global historian. A corpus of texts is provided for reading in order to provide a broad view on the field and cast common ground for discussion.

Assessment and permitted materials

Written exam (29.1.2019); participation in dscussion.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Students demonstrate in written examination their familiarity with the contents presented in the lecture as well as entailed in the literature provided and show their ability to apply this knowledge discussing open questions in the examination. There will be an extra-requirement for those students who need to earn 5 ECTS for this class (additional essay).

Presentations of the lectures plus required reading (General reading plus 1-2 articles for each presentation)
