Meeting Dates: 8. 45 sharp for all three excursion days

The excursion will lead the students to places which testimony Vienna's outstanding role in global history: once a metropolis of an Empire with global reach, Vienna became a shrinking town after 1918. A second era of international significance was based on Austria's Post World War II neutrality and its ability to serve as an international mediator between East and West. With the end of communism the town became part of global relocation of investment and migration, attracting tourists, asylum seekers as well as Multinational Companies. The course offers introductions, assignments and guided readings, preparing the students for three excursion days, exploring contrasting images of Global Vienna.
The course aims at introducing international students into Vienna's history and international role (access priority), but it is open for Austrian students as well.
