Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

The 16th Congress of the European professional association for European Ethnology, the Society for Ethnology and Folklore is dedicated to the topic "Living Uncertainty". https://www.siefhome.org/congresses/sief2023/
The seminar with excursion poses the question of how uncertainty is currently researched in our discipline, which fields of research are relevant and which are perhaps also overlooked. After we have dealt intensively with the format of the congress and the professional association, as well as with the programme and the methods, concepts and fields of research that are evident from it, we will visit selected lectures, workshops, panels and side events during the congress. In addition, discussions with individual speakers will be sought.
The final project consists of contributions to the blog of the Institute of European Ethnology and can be completed in text form or as a podcast.

There will be a cost of 100€/person to attend the congress in Brno, plus travel and accommodation costs.
Subsidies will be applied for at the ÖH and for students eligible for funding.
