Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
As a princely seat with flourishing commerce, Vienna's leading position as an art centre in late medieval Central Europe was secured. In the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries, its wealthy patronal elite financed either the remodelling or complete rebuilding of all its principal churches and public buildings. The course addresses the various art forms that were used for the elaborate refurnishings of these spaces, many examples of which remain in situ while others have been transferred to museums.
