Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
We will be discussing the relevance of feminism and gender to documenta 12. Should this exhibition be called feminist? What was the role of female artists to the exhibition? Are there other categories than gender that should be taken into account?
Assessment and permitted materials
Papers to be given by students, as well as class discussion. The ability to work collectively is a prerequisite.
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
We will try to come to a conclusion about the relevance of feminism and gender to documenta 12.
Examination topics
After an introduction to the curatorial concepts of documenta 12, students will give papers on the reception of the exhibition as well as on individual art works and their presentation. We will then discuss the above mentioned questions. There might be additional class room discussions of texts.
