Aims, contents and method of the course

Ethnography and walking are closely linked: In walking, we discover research topics, implement participant observation and sometimes communicate our results. The development of a variety of perspectives is one of the most important potentials of walking research. The seminar deals with the connection between ethnographic research and walking on three levels: 1. We get to know the texts on walking from the beginnings until today. 2. We will analyse how ethnography and walking are linked in the individual methodological texts. 3. We will practise the different approaches ourselves.

Assessment and permitted materials

The course is exam-immanent; only two absences are allowed.
Points will be awarded as follows:

For the successful completion of the course at least 50 out of 100 possible points have to be achieved.Grading scale:
>= 87,5 very good (1)
>= 75 good (2)
>= 62,5 satisfactory (3)
