Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

The students shall obtain an overview over the different drawing methods, technics and materials which were used at the time of Raphael. At a further step shall be defined the chracteristics of Raphael as a draughtsman as well as his stilistic development. These facts shall be compared to the drawings of the artists who worked in his workshop or came in contact with Raphael. The aim of the seminar will be to define the individual drawing-styles of the different artits, to make transparent the complex problem of the kind of organization in the workshop of Raphael and to clarify problems of attribution of these drawings. Furthrmore the students shall be sensibilized for the medium of drawing in the time of the Renaissance in general.
