    Aims, contents and method of the course

    This case study is devoted to the reception of Chinese art in the Czech Republic in the 17th, 18th and 19th centuries. We will look at and analyse the architecture and interior design of selected buildings, among other things, and thus explore the relationship to chinoiserie in the rest of Europe.

    Assessment and permitted materials

    - active participation in discussions
    - Introductory group presentations (10 minutes)
    - Individual presentations (15-20 minutes) with handouts
    - In-depth study in the form of a written paper (15,000-20,000 characters of continuous text, according to the citation rules of the Institute of Art History)

    Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
    Attendance is compulsory. In the event of absence due to illness or exceptional family circumstances, written proof must be provided.
    All parts of the course must be completed in order to pass the course.
    Seminar paper: In order to ensure good scientific practice, the course instructor may invite students to a grade-relevant discussion after submitting the paper, which must be passed in order to successfully complete the course.

    Examination topics
    - Active participation in discussions 15%
    - Presentation 30%
    - In-depth study in the form of a written assignment 55%

    Grading scale:
    1 (very good) 100-90 points; 2 (good) 89-81 points; 3 (satisfactory) 80-71 points; 4 (sufficient) 70-61 points; 5 (not sufficient) 60-0 points
