The second part of the course concentrates on the senses and flânerie. With the help of the approaches and methods of sensory ethnography, we will interrogate the (male) gaze of flâneur, and distribute an equal space to the aural, olfactory, gustatory and haptic perceptions of wandering. The block courses are devoted to discuss the given texts, films, art and research projects. In order to grasp and break the hierarchy of the senses practically, there will be an excursion at the end where the students will exercise the various sensory awareness and inscriptions of walking in the city.
Each lecture is structured similarly:
Following the (theoretical) input, we will have various activities such as presentations of the guests on exploring the city, and film projections. Lastly, we will explore the city space together with an excursion.
