Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

The institute's colloquium focuses on the question of what connections exist between liberalism and authoritarianism. Invited scholars from the cultural and social sciences, cultural practitioners, and artists explore the historical roots of liberal-economic thought in Austria, as well as the later emergence of the first neoliberal and authoritarian regimes in Latin America. They also address current developments in Austria, Germany and Central Europe and forward-looking practices for confronting and resisting far-right and fascist positions.
The event series takes place as part of the program *"Through the Dark: On Living in Authoritarian Times"* at the Volkskundemuseum Wien and includes lectures, meme production, readings, and much more.
