Aims, contents and method of the course

Die Lehrveranstaltung wird sich mit der Auftraggeberschaft franziskanischer Bildwerke befassen, die in dem Zeitraum von 1250 bis 1400 erzeugt wurden. Anhand von Fallbeispielen (u.a. Verona, San Fermo Maggiore; Vicenza, San Lorenzo; Padua, Sant'Antonio; Florenz, Santa Croce; Pistoia, San Francesco), wird sich herausstellen ob und inwiefern die malerische Austattung dieser Filialkirchen die ästhetischen Entscheidungen der Mutterkirche des Ordens San Francesco in Assisi berücksichtigte und befolgte, oder ob sie eher auf eigenständigem Weg innovative Bildprogramme entwickelte. Darüberhinaus wird festgestellt, in welcher Hinsicht Laienstifter, die konkret die Erschaffung dieser Kunstwerke förderten, auf dieses bedeutende Phänomen der italienischen Gotik einwirkten.
