Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
This course will introduce students to scientific work in the field of Ancient History, from the posing of questions and use of research tools to the composition of a scientific paper and its oral presentation. The course surveys the sources and methods of the field through concrete research questions in the late Republic and early Principate.
Assessment and permitted materials
Oral presentation, written research paper, short assignments, class participation
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
Active class participation and command of the presented material (20%), weekly assignments (25%), oral presentation (25%), independently written research paper of ca. 15 pages (ca. 4000 words) (30%)
Examination topics
In addition to writing a research paper and doing an oral presentation, students will receive short weekly assignments.
